Remote Database General Parameters

The definition of a Remote Mimer SQL Database involves the following parameters:

Some of the parameters are not shown when the dialog appears. Clicking on the "Advanced" tab will show additional connection options. These will have suitable default values, so expanding the dialog is not generally necessary.

When you are changing the definition of a remote database, the current parameter settings are shown and may be altered. To create a new remote database definition, you must specify at least: Database Name, Node Name and Protocol.

Note that the Database Name for the remote definition must be the same as that specified for the local definition, thus database names must be unique throughout the network.

Pressing the Test button will test if a successful connection can be made using the remote database definition.

Select Apply or OK to set up the remote database definition with the specified parameters, or Cancel to close the dialog without creating or changing anything.

All the required parameter settings should be specified before OK is selected.
